It is the year 1884. Sir Charles Baskerville, a wealthy businessman in England, is found dead in the vicinity of his Palace in the country of Devon. Apparently, his heart had stopped and the few clues found by the authorities in the place where the body was found suggested that he was fleeing from someone: or perhaps?. from something? A terrible curse appears to follow the Baskerville family members since the cruel and violent Hugo Baskerville, the family patriarch, wanted to force a young virgin to be his wife. It is then when, according to legend, the forces of hell decided to punish this man?s lust, and before the astonished and helpless looks of his servants, a huge hound pursued and killed the terrible Hugo, and then his descendants, leaving the family marked forever. Aware of the mysterious fact surrounding Sir Charles? death, and of the strange legend which forms part of the Baskerville history, Dr. James Mortimer, a friend of Sir Charles, submits the case to the most famous private detective in all of England: Sherlock Holmes. The good Doctor wants to protect the young Henry Baskerville, apparently the last heir of a doomed family. What is hidden behind those terrible facts? What will Doctor Watson, the inseparable traveling companion of Holmes, discover while he visits the Baskerville Palace when Holmes is unable to go personally? What are the servants of the late Charles Baskerville hiding? Is the young Henry Baskerville ready to confront in a tangible way a curse that appears to be hovering over him? Why doesn?t Sherlock Holmes want to personally investigate the facts? Will the greatest detective of all times be capable of solving the mystery of Sir Charles? death, and help the young Henry Baskerville take his place as the legitimate Baskerville heir? This will then become the greatest challenge ever faced by the brilliant detective, a challenge which will perhaps bring him to confront supernatural forces which defy his logical and exact mind?. ?The Hound of the Baskervilles?, the most important thriller by Arthur Conan Doyle, is a work which since its publication in 1902 still captivates the interest of millions of readers around the world. It was responsible for the birth of new and ingenious narrative forms and its influence can still be felt today in works of similar genres. Without doubt, a book which the avid reader of emotional and unexpected turns will be able to enjoy?.
