The Seventh Scroll is another fascinating story written by Wilbur Smith. This time it is set in contemporary and colorful Egypt, England and Ethiopia. An English aristocrat, art collector and adventures seeker, Nicholas Quenton-Harper lends her a helping hand They leave together for Ethiopia where according to the scroll, in the Blue Nile valley chasm the pharaoh Mamose tomb should be hidden. Unfortunately, Herr von Schiller, a mad and paying no attention to the costs maniac of ancient art also starts his quest. The plot is speeding up and the search for the remnants of the ancient civilization soon becomes a deadly race between the competing treasure hunters. Written in a colorful and strong language the book is not only describing the adventure of heroes but also the places which they visit, culture, customs and casual life of its inhabitants. This is a bit of an adventure roman, detective story and history study at the same time, enclosed within more than 700 pages which you read breathless, turning impatiently the pages.
