The History of Hindi Cinema: The author of the book, Mr. Sanjeev Shrivastava is a well known cine-critique, writer and journalist. The book presents the hundred years long journey of Hindi cinema. The book has been divided in about a dozen chapters signifying the various milestones of Bollywood industry. Quite interestingly the author has marked the beginnig of Hindi cinema with the still photography of Lumear brothers displayed in Mumbai. The book, as different from the usual practice of making history a bundle of data and events,presents a composite picture of the developments taking place in the society vis-a-vis Hindi cinema. Separate chapters have been devoted to present the thorough dynamics of Bollywood including playback singing and otherback stage activities.
The book provides a good reference material for the cine buffs and at the same time makes an intersting reading for general readers. The author has worked with renowned script writer and novelist Mr. Kamleshwar as an associate writer for more than ten years. Still he is working with several projects besides his job in a TV channel.
