Chalk face ... sanskrit .. a touch of parlez vous ... how are you! In those days
I began French class at morning until lunch time .. and I was three years old.
I had all my books in a Bear Brand Stocking Box given me by the drapery
business next door to my Teacher's school room. I was not least
excited when I had completed the whole morning at Kindergarten
and had learnt some French ... in fact the French Language and
Culture was to stay with me throughout my schooling and I
even did an extra year from leaving Technical College at 16 ... up to
17 and attended again in the same fashion class on Saturday mornings.
And you've guess it ... I did French Grammar and of course the oral!
Everyone politely complimented my accent ...
This book is on my shelf ..
Le groupe .... we three girls at Convent School, tidy job that it was
took our state examinations in English much to our dismay ... but later
on it was to stand us all in good stead and we became something of
traditional scholars in English as well as French.
Le Scene ... plays in French .... I once took a class in England and
was hard pressed to produce any resources at all as their Literature
teacher ... so I composed ... on the spot ... improvised ... plays
in French ... which was a rip roaring success in those days.
We specialized in French Conversation Class. I once had a great
time in Paris on a Company Business Weekend ... with marvellous
food and wine and excellent company. The man from the Top Room
was there and the phtographers snapped us ... we looked so
young so beautiful ... it was a dream come true.
