This novel is very well historically set, and tells the life of a woman who an awful tragedy destroyed her family dreams. Aubrey, her husband, shows that his character isn''t as tender as she expected. She finds her son?s death not clear enough dueto Doctor Damien?s attitude towards it. She considers him an evil man and whom she will meet again in Crimea?s bloody war, where he devotes to nursing.
