Edward is the father of Ed, the human.Patrick is the son of Nadia, the woman. And Gerald,Gerald is the dog. Ed is a retired philanthropist of two days, he smokes Malboro not Marlboro but Malboro. Also the ganja on occasion, when the mood is right. In other words at night.Patrick plays a Saxophone at a local blues pub and is about to end his fourth year of sobriety in about three...two...one. He recently created a shrine in his bathroom of the great Serge Gainsbourg of France and in about three...two...one...he stumbles over it in his drunken stoop. "Gerri...Gerald my boy..where are you, you crazy dumb dog you"Patrick shouts. Gerald is thee unfortunate, one of the 101 Dalmatians, unfortunate to find such a living condition. He roams around the street at night with his nose up and occasionally scores some bud from Ed, then off to Mrs. Ricalli's sun home. Mrs.Ricalli leaves her garbage can open, open in hopes animals will come and eat her garbage therefore lessening the garbage to be bagged. Patrick however, is watching his weight, therefore sticks with Ed's smoke and Gerald's spilt bourbon and peanuts'n'pocket quick meal. Ed is the local blues pub owner or manager, depending on his mood. For there is a difference. A manager cleans and owns an establishment whereas an owner owns a manager. He prefers to be called boss. Gerald, when not playing his sax or calling for his dog and or drunk, is a supplier of Ed. Of Malboro that is. And Patrick is the dog.
This pyramid inside a circle, this trio have one thing in common, besides knowing each other. They are all alone. Ed used to have a wife, a wife who left him for a blues musician who lived in Chicago but had a mailing address of 90405. Gerald, to my knowledge has been for the most part alone. However, he had once had a fling with a girl, they were in love. They moved out of state, somewhere to California. Gerald, while living in California, sent mail back home with the mailing address 90...the rest is blotched out from bourbon. It said "I'll be back in about three or two, hell maybe tomorrow" he was upset.
And I, Patrick am still living a good life.
