Finding My Feet
(Jason Robinson)

Publicidade
This book is very aptly titled 'Finding my feet '.It refers to Jason Robinson's personal , private and professional lives. He grew up in Leeds Yorkshire in a council estate with poverty never too far away from his doorstep. He is the yougest of 3 brothers. In his own words his mother is white as are his 2 brothers. He never knew his father and did not know if he was alive or dead although his mother did point him out on one occassion.
Within his family circle hardship ,alcohol and violence were inextricably interlinked usually on a Friday or Saturday night. Jason was always close to his mother but it would be fairer to say he came to an understanding and sort of respect arrangement with his brothers.
Robinson upon his own admission did not really excell at school on the academic side however he did quickly grasp his sporting abilities and as such by the age of 10 was deeply involved with the game of rugby league.
Jason was beginning to get a reputation in rugby league and as such it was no real great surprise when he signed professionally for Wigan at the temder age of 17. He has just signed for the most successful british Rugby league club bolstered with legends yet Jason took it all in his stride. Throughout the course of his career he has always been very modest and quick to compliment the other tem playres around him . Jason never claimed to be the fastest player ever, he was quick to pass that accolade onto martin Offiah another Wigan winger.

On the pitch he went from success to success and off the pitch in a world where alcohol sits very comfortably Jason and some of his fellow rugby league professionals played hard and drank harder. They had alot of free time . Robinson did not see the harm as he was young annd training very hard he believed that he could carry it all off.

Wigan Rugby League Football club had a team full of stars from as far a field as New Zealand. Jason being jason realised that people do the same thing differnetly. They handle life and life pressures in differnet ways. He realised that alcohol was becoming a bit of a problem. It was beginning to take hold. A means of escapism . What could he do ?. He did not want to end up as another could do better a man who did not live to his true potential.

A number of events happened. Wigan was losing its place as the best team in Rugby league . Rugby union was becoming a professional game. Clive Woodward becmar aware of Jason Robinson and his possible rugby union prowess. Jason via Inga the winger and other fiends became aware of christianity . Jason had discovered love and became a parent. I have listed thes events in no particular order chronologically but undoubtedly they all played a part and made an impression.

I am not going to give it all away .I will leave the final discovery up to you. Pick up the book. It is a well written suprisinng book. We can all identify with something in Jason's book . Jason is an understated but a Rugby legend nevertheless. He was a member of the successful England Rugby union World cup winners 2003 . He continues to dazzle ( Billy the whizz) at Sale Sharks and under Brian Ashton the new England coach he is back into the international arena.

Read the book . Discover how Jason has grown and matured not only as a Rugby player but also as a man, husband and parent.
