Chocolate Asphalt
(Joanna Ambroz)

Publicidade
The purpose of my experiment is todetermine if a variety of differentrock sizescan be used to produce asphalt pavement. My experiment will also demonstrate what happens to the materials used to make asphalt during the mixing process. I predict that the size of the rocks used will only effect the smoothness of the pavement. The smaller the rock the smoother the pavement.

To demonstrate this, I will make no-bake chocolate cookies using various ingredients, such as shreddedcoconut, walnuts, and oats. These ingredients will represent the rocks used in the making ofasphalt.

After mixing the tar (chocolate) to the rocks ( coconut, walnuts, and oats), I rolled the mixture out so that it would be flat like an asphalt road. I found the areas with oats to be the smoothest and the areas with the walnuts to be the bumpiest surface.
