The Hobbit
(J.R.R. Tolkien)

Publicidade
Hobbits are unusual creatures and you don't see them very often at all, nowadays. The Hobbit is the story of a hobbit who ignored the social niceties of the matter and had an adventure!
Bilbo Baggins was the son of Bungo Baggins, a thoroughly respectable hobbit, but his mother was Belladonna Took and the Tooks were known to be rather wild. When Gandalf the wizard arrives at his door, Bilbo doesn't stand a chance. He is whisked away with thirteen dwarves to kill a dragon and reclaim its treasure.
'The Hobbit' is an engaging and amusing story. It was written for children and is a stand-alone story, but it is also the precursor to 'The Lord of the Rings'.
Although everything is made light of, the Necromancer, Gandalf, Moria, Smaug, Bilbo?s ring and Mirkwood all have much deeper stories than those that appear in 'The Hobbit'. ?The Hobbit? has everything a good children?s book should have: it?s funny, has a good plot and characters, but is written in simple language without being condescending. Children from seven years and up will enjoy the story, even before they can read it themselves. Nonetheless ?The Hobbit?is still enjoyable by adults and is worth a read by anyone.
