This story is written by two sisters. The book is filled with suspense, and things happen that you would not expect. Ray Jackson and his wife Leigh are having marital problems, and Leigh has an affair with Ray?s co-worker and boss named Martin. Ray is an architect and Leigh is in the furniture business. Leigh disappears and Ray does not seem concerned about Leighs whereabouts because Ray has problems of his own. Ray is haunted by his own past and has many unanswered questions only his mother can answer for him. Ray tries to seek closure about his past but his mother is very reluctant on answering his questions. Ray has keys from every house he lived in as a child. These keys have answers to his past. Kat is a an old friend of Leigh?s past who decides to reconnect with her, but is unsuccessful in reaching her and she becomes curious as to where she is. Leigh?s past with Kat involves her brother Tommy whom Leigh use to date but jilted for Ray. Leigh is known to leave people and things as if they don?t exist. Ray meets Kat and finds out that they lived in Whittier California at about the same time. Ray?s past seems to be colliding with his present life. Kat decides to search on her own for Leigh?s whereabouts and Ray searches on his own for answers.
