One thing my mother was good at was she could always find a good book for me to read when I was sick in bed. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott appealed to me because our family had four girls too. One of my sisters is named Beth. She too is very kind hearted but she is still alive. The saga is about the girls growing up to be women during a rough time in American history. They have limited means and yet they have each other.Little Women would make a good chapter book especially if the girl has trouble reading. A chapter or a few pages could be read each evening. There is also a film or two based on the story.
