Bancroft's School and Oriel College, Oxford University ... he had written many book among which is this particular one: Dictionary of Twentieth-Century History 1900-1991.
This book includes items on Politics: Diplomacy: Military: Economic: Social: religious affairs: Its always useful to browse through a book like that and see what you pick out! My eye was drawn to an entry as follows:
Kennedy: Robert Francis: 1925-1968:
it states that Kennedy was the brother of John Fitzgerald Kennedy the late President of the United States of America was was shot in 1963 ... Robert was educated at Harvard and the Law School of the University of Virginia : he served in the Navy in 1944-46 before admission to the Bar in Massachusetts: he was elected Senator in 1964 for New York: he was shot in in Los Angeles by a Jordanian immigrant who alleged that Kennedy supported Jews not Arabs! At the time Bobby Kennedy was shot I was resident in a flat in the Antrim Road Belfast/we didnt think too much of it at the time ... but later on a holiday in Greece ... an American man quizzed us forcefully on the subject of Robert Kennedy's assassination! I thought that he had just been shot! In fact to clarify, I could have been on holiday on the Italian Riviera because around that time my friend and I went off on a tour of Europe and stayed for over a week on the Italian Riviera! It wasnt until much later that anyone discussed his killing or indeed that of JFK's assassination in 1963:
Revolution in 1905 (Russia) ... grim street fighting in Moscow ...resulting in over a 1,000 deaths!
1917 ... Russian Revolution and Civil War origins of this war lay in the incompatibility of the Russian Tsars and peasants to see "eye to eye" resulting in The February Revolution/The October Revolution/The Civil War this gave way to the USSR and since then this has been dissolved and Moscow and other states are separately defined!
Intensely interesting and well worth further investigations! Excellent reading ...
