Carrie
(Stephen King)

Publicidade
This book produces a terrifying mix of feelings as we are told the terrible story of Carrie White and her path into darkness. Brilliantly written and the skipping Point of views from newspaper clippings to reports to Carrie?s thoughts to Tina?s, a classmate, observation, the story is merely a build up to the explosive (pun intended) ending of this gripping and ferocious novel.

Carrie White has always been different. Her mum is crazy and she?s just strange. Her past is colourful, to say the least, and she is traumatised and sardonic about all that she has had to put up with. Having been bullied by her classmates for her oddness, her resentment slowly builds up. This pent up anger and frustration has a lease ? Carrie is able to perform powers nobody else can. Carrie isn?t stupid. She knows these aren?t good powers, she knows she shouldn?t mess with them. But she doesn?t stop?no, Carrie doesn?t stop until it really is too late.

But the handsome, popular, most drooled over boy at school asks Carrie to the prom, and Carrie?s life finally seems to be achieving some happiness at last. Sadly, this happiness does not last long, there is no happiness for Carrie on prom night, or for the rest of her classmates?

A brilliant book. One finishes it so shockingly suddenly, and wonders how Stephen King managed to get so much angst and pain and passion and brilliance into such a small amount of words?
