Age of Wisdom(immortality)

In,Hinduism, the soul(atman)is immortal-it is uinborn and undying. Atman is the essential spark of divine that is present in every living being. All being have bodies which are mortal and couls that are immortal. Concealed in the heart of all beings is the Atman, the spirit, the self;smaller than the smallest atom, greater than vast spaces,?says Katha Upanishad,(Tr.Juan Mascaro). Birth and death are not attributes of the life;they are processes of matter,or the mortal body. life forms body,it is not formed by body. Discarding mortal bodies, every soul goes through a cycle of life and death until it achieves moksha9liberation) and unites with the Supreme Brahman. REincarnatin of the soul is decided according to Karma(work)of the past lives. Amrtam,or immortality, says the Isa Upanishad,is the goal offered to all beings to transcend the cycle of life and death. ?Atman, the spirit of vision is never born and never dies. Before it there was nothing, and it is the one for evermore. Never-born and eternal beyod times gone or to come, it does not die when the body dies,? Yama explains no Nachiketas in the Katha Upanishad(Tr.Juan Mascaro). Immortality does not mean survival of the self or the eo after dissolution of the body, according to the Isa Upanishad. It describes immortality as the consciousness that is beyond birth and death, beyond all chain of cause and effect, beyond all bondage and limitation,free,blissful,self-existent in conscious being, the consciousness of the supreme being,or the supreme Brahman9Tr.Sri Aurobindo). Humans exist, explains the Isa Upanishad, so that through them the soul may enjoy immortality in birth and in the non-becoming. The first step from mortality towards immortality is the growth of illumination,or real knowledge, in mind. To gain immortality of knowledge,we have to strive for dissolution of limited egos and the chain of births into the conscious of the Supreme Being, the unborn and undying. The path to immortality is through consciousness, power, and bliss. These three attributes are part of our higher nature,or Para Prakriti,Mind, life and body are lower nature,or Apara Prakriti. According to Sri Aurobindo, the beginning of wisdom, perfectin and beatitude is the vision of the Supreme Being,or self-realisation. Immoirtality,or eternal life, for a human is impossible, according to Hindu belief.
