Genesis
(The Bible)
God created all things. When he was finished he made Adam and appointed him the person who will name all the animals. He did not find a helpmate among the animals. God took a rib from Adam and created Eve. His helpmate; who would be his life long companion. They would replenish the earth and care for the animals.
Adam ate the forbidden fruit from the tree. Then he and Eve were naked. They were not to see each other as a shameful thing, yet they did because of the snake (Genesis 1,2). God was angry with his children they had betrayed his order. He cast them out of the Garden and they were to feel pain and not have all the beauty and safety of the Garden. Women will experience pain during childbirth; men will labor 6 days and rest on the Sabbath. They are to follow the Ten Commandments, and worship God (Genesis 3).
Genesis 3:14-20 so the Lord God said to the serpent, because you have done this,
Cursed are you above all livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly a you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers, he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. To the woman he said, I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. To Adam he said, Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, you must not eat of it. Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil (work) you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat to your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return. Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. We understand that because of a bad decision Adam and Eve received rules and punishment from God.
