Aesop's Fables are a delightful collection of stories, known as fables that have morals relating to life decisions. These simple stories are short and apply even to today's changing society. The stories continue to delight children and adults alike. We use the morals of these fables in our everyday lives without ever knowing it. The story of The Ants and The Grasshopper teaches us about working all year long to insure that we have enough to make it through lean times. While the adage the early bird gets the worm even comes from Aesop?s Fables.
Each tale has been re-told in a variety of ways throughout the ages but has retained its original meaning. These stories cross cultures, generations and society in general. These fables, also called parables, teach the basics of human behavior through the use of animals interacting with humans and each other in everyday life situations. Even today Aesop's Fables live on in jokes passed through emails each day. Although these fables have been reworded to sound funny and even pass as impossibilities they continue to pass on the ideas that wrong deeds do not go unpunished and right decisions are always rewarded.
Even today's movies contain these fables, for example, the movie A Bug's Life, corresponds to the fable of The Ant and The Grasshopper. While movies that show us reaching for something that was never ours, such as in the fable of The Fox and The Grapes, relates to the movie series of Harry Potter when Harry must overcome obstacles to get what is rightfully his while living with family members who seek to keep him from his rightful inheritance. These fables make it easy for parents to teach values to their children as well as present a chance to discuss issues that parents have difficulty finding a way to begin the conversation.
