The Book That Inspired Me The Most " The Power Of Positive Thinking"
(Norman vincent peale)
?The Book that inspired me the most? What's a book? Everything or nothing. The eye that sees it all. As the saying goes ?Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life' -Mortimer J. Adler. I never knew the importance of these lines until I opened and read through the first few pages of Norman Vincent Peale?s ?The Power of Positive Thinking?. The first few pages created the hunger in me to read more and as I sat down, there was no way that I could get my eyes off it. The book teaches us how we can choose to determine our attitude and be winners in every aspect of our lives. There might be different ways of stating this, but the way Peale does it, truly prompts me to get back to read the same instances again and again. He states real life examples very explicitly and proves how positive thinking has changed the lives of people in a positive manner. It?s easy to think positive when the odds are in your favor, but being positive even when things are not going your way, is what really differentiates the winners to losers. It?s this degree of positive attitude that really determines how far you can reach in life. Peale shows this well by giving the example of a glass that may seem half-empty or half-filled, depending on how we see it. We all know, ?Kites rise highest against the wind---not with it?, and its people who think win-win all the time, can actually face the life?s challenges more effectively and efficiently. Some of the Chapters that I remember and have incorporated in my daily life are: How we can create our own happiness, I still remember the line where Peale states: ?When we wake up, we can choose, whether we want to spend the rest of the day being happy or being sad?, that?s how I generate happiness for myself. How to stop fuming and fretting, We can chose to fume and fret at situations without finding the real cause or try our best to change the situation around us The power of prayer, There may be number of ways we pray, but it should be a source of energy for us. Peale says that by prayer, we should be able to recharge our batteries and get back to life afresh, ready to face everything that comes our way. We should have a strong belief that our creator will take care of everything. ?Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few are to be chewed and digested?. -Francis Bacon. This book has been a true inspiration for me and I am sure must have been the same for many others too. The whopping figure of 2 million copies sold worldwide, says it all. ?The things I want to know are in books; my best friend is the man who'll get me a book I ain't read?. -Abraham Lincoln. -Ankit
