Noughts And Crosses
(Malorie Blackman)

Publicidade
Noughts and Crosses, the story of friendship, racism, love, freedom fighting, and segregation.

Malorie Blackman speculates on a segregation where the Crosses (black people) are superior to the Noughts (white poeple), which of course opposes the actual historic event of the seggregation of South Africa. However she writes about the story of a deep friendship and its painful struggle as a boy and a girl try to hold on to each other in a world where society pushes them apart.

This story, unashamed and raw, describes the unfair battle of racism, but somehow avoids any sympathetic or pitied feelings. Whilst the bare and undisguised ugly racism battle is powerful and deep, the battle of a friendship is beautiful and laced with the love that the two main characters (Sephy and Callum) feel for each other.

As the world around them changes, the society classes and race become a major issue, as the friendship of their families is brutally diminished by a seggregation, and as they grow up, their friendship is hardpushed to survive. But the love and deep emotions Callum and Sephy feel for each other faces the society with a bravery and beauty that will leave a tear in your eye.

This is a deep story, it is beautiful, it is ugly, and it is emotional. It will change your life.
