Many years ago India was considered as a Golden Bird due to its wealth. But now conditions are altogether different ?unemployment, poverty etc. are the results. Making progress is not that easy for everyone. And there America is one country that attracts many Indians due to its wealth, kind of life-style. That is why many young Indians are willing to migrate to America especially professionals like engineers and doctors because they are having good opportunities to flourish. And their parents are also willing their loved ones so far because they can then fulfill their unaccomplished dreams. In order to reach America sometimes they cheat their employers or marry with a green-card holders to get green card.

Book is named as Dollar Bahu. Bahu means - Daughter-in-law. The story revolves around Gauramma her husband Shamanna, their two sons (named Chandru & Girish) & one daughter Surabhi. Chandru who is very ambitious like his mother somehow manages to reach America by cheating his employer, by losing her lady-love (Vinuta) to his brother (coincidently she gets married to Girish) and by sacrificing his family?s affection. He succeeds to fulfill his dreams. Theirs was a happy family until Chandru gets married to Jamuna who is daughter of a very rich person. Now onwards Vinuta, who is so hardworking, caring and loving towards her family has to face a lot because she belongs to a poor family she does not earn like Jamuna earns in Dollars. Vinuta is neglected by her mother-in-law & sister-in-law thus she gets depressed. Jamuna though she is not a very good person but she manages to get the love and affection from her in-laws due to magic of her dollors. But things get changed when Gauramma reaches America. Then she realize the true value of Vinuta, how money has changed her own nature. Now she know that there are no values of feeling. On the other hand she gets to know certain good things about America like people get respect for their work. They are praised and accordingly awarded without any partiality. In India people do not accept a widow/divorcee wholeheartedly. They are neglected everywhere. But in America they can lead their life afresh.

A worth- reading book.
