One Of These Days...
(David A. Crenshaw, Ph.D.)
One of these days I am going to smell the roses. One of these days I am going to tell my wife and children how special they are to me and how much I love them. One of these days I am going to devote my time and energy to the things that are truly important in life. One of these days I am going to notice the beauty all around me. One of these days I am going to realize that moments, days, weeks, and years go by in a blink and it is impossible to replace even a single minute. One of these days I am going to understand that there is nothing more precious than to see a child smile, to enjoy a hearty laugh, or to observe an adult who still knows how to play. One of these days I am going to walk more sandy beaches, climb more mountains, and gaze at the wonderment of the stars and planets on a clear night. One of these days I will die and how many of these things will I have actually done? I can picture pleading with St. Peter but one of these days I was going to . . . If only time would wait for you and me! Thoreau was right. There is no greater tragedy than for a person to come to the end of her/his life and discover that she/he never lived.
