The Book Of Pagan Prayer
(Serith, Ceisiwr)

Publicidade
This book is a gift for those who walk the Pagan Path. It teaches one how to pray, what to say, how to say it and when, and to whom. The author begins with an introduction, explaining the use of certain words and the history of the language used, as well as the organization of the book. In the book itself, the author explains the role of prayer in the past and now, as well as the inspiration and/or sources of many of the prayers herein included. Next, he opens up the various ways of praying using words (and their importance, use and source, postures, and their significance), motion, dance, music, and gestures. He follows this by a section on purification and preparation for prayers. In the final part, he speaks of composing prayers of various kinds, and of telling the beads. This is followed by sections with prayers of various kinds, each section with an introduction, and then examples, old and new, to various deities. There are prayers of Calling, or invocation, and praise; prayers for the family; prayers for various times of day and times of the month and the year, as well as for various times and occasions in life; prayers of thanksgiving; and, finally, petitionary prayers and blessings. There is a chapter of sample litanies and various mantras. Appendix I lists the appropriate offerings for various kinds of deities; Appendix II is a glossary of deities or divine beings mentioned in the book, especially those the author has a particular devotion or relationship to; Appendix III is an index of prayers by first lines. These are followed by an annotated bibliography and a section of notes.
