When you start reading a Robin Cook you are well aware of what is awaiting you. Yes.This book is no different. Its again the same story of doctors in aprons playing the detective. Amid their crumbling personal lives, the famed doctor duo ofJack Stapletonand laurie Montogomery, find themselves face to face with very strange but natural deaths in the hospital. This arouses the interest of Laurie who goes on the trail of the deaths which largely included perfectly healthy individuals. The book goes on to narrate how laurie keeps up her investigation despite stiff resistance from the aurthorities fearing media blacklash, a close friend's murder and her own entopic pregnancy. With a wonderfully knitted storyline, the book keeps the reader go on till the last page. Mercifully, the reader is spared of the hi-fi medical terms and instead has been welcomed to get engrossed in the tension-filled moments when laurie was playing the role of the next victim. The only thing lacking was a new reason of death!! The reason seemed too similar to his other novel 'Crisis' which of courseisa sequel to this.But for all of us who fit more into the role of 'Patients', the reason doesn't make any difference as long as the suspense is good and Robin Cook made sure it is....And for the 'Doctors' over there, you surely would get to learn some more medical jargons!!
